About me
I have worked in publishing for over fifteen years as both an editorial professional and a history publishing specialist.
After achieving a First Class Joint Honours BA in German and History at University College London, I joined the independent publisher Allison & Busby. Here, through proofreading, copyediting, and typesetting, I acquired the essential editorial training that shaped the course of my career.
I soon carried my editorial skill-set into the realm of academic history publishing. Over the course of a decade, first with Adam Matthew Digital and then with Routledge, Taylor & Francis, I researched, developed, and edited innumerable projects on a wide range of historical subjects. I immersed myself in topics as diverse as imperial China and American 20th century popular culture; life in the Soviet Union and life at sea in the Age of Sail; the French Revolution and the Spanish Civil War; the history of tea and coffee and the history of football and baseball. Along the way, I acquired an MA with Distinction in Eighteenth Century Studies from Queen Mary University of London.
At Taylor & Francis I rose to the position of Publisher, responsible for managing an editorial team of nine staff and an editorial programme of history resources. I also acquired a specialism in editing crime writing, as I was engaged to copyedit projects ranging from crime drama screenplays to murder mystery novels.
After leaving Taylor & Francis I established my own business to focus on what I love doing most: helping history and crime authors fine-tune their work into polished, publication-ready books. I have a number of regular clients, including Oxford University Press, Bristol University Press, Boydell & Brewer, Westchester Publishing Services, and independent authors.
After a decade and a half in publishing I have edited everything from academic monographs to trade non-fiction to genre fiction to educational resources to international bestsellers. Now I look forward to working with you.
